There's something about this particular moment in impact reporting. It feels like an inflection point. Maybe it's the rapidly increasing number of impact reporting software products, or the uptick of interest from governments, corporations, and nonprofits in actually doing this work, or the new developments in Blockchain and other technologies. But here's the thing about inflection points: They're indicative of momentum that's been building for awhile, and it's never just one thing driving the change of pace.
At SAMETRICA, we want to explore the forces driving this evolution. To do that, we're launching a running set of posts called the Future Series. We ask experts a set of interview questions about where they think impact reporting is heading, and what issues are at play. The series includes people from different backgrounds - Impact practitioners, end-users, policymakers, social investors, and academics.
As opposed to a regular set of blogs, the Future Series is presented as a free flowing conversation and covers multiple topics within each post. The point is to capture the myriad, complex drivers of the change we're seeing in the industry now, and give people access to the perspectives of experts. Our first post is with Professor S. Mark Fox at the University of Toronto. There's going to be more come. We hope you enjoy the read!
